Havasu Canyon - North Central Arizona
Havasu Canyon or Havasupai is located in North Central
Arizona.
Fed by springs, Havasu Creek tumbles down dozens
of cascades and
four impressive falls as it makes its
way to the Colorado River.
The area is a riparian oasis in an otherwise stark
desert landscape.
The Havasupai people have lived
in the canyon for centuries,
farming along the water
and hunting game on the northern plateaus.
The route is long and dusty, worthy of physical training, but the rewards are many.
It is a place of dreams, of cool clear water, of
blooming cacti, of blazing summer days, of towering
falls and friendly people, where lazy days wander
by with the
constant sound of falling water.
