Colorado a la Krajnak

Every summer we spend a week in the Rockies, specifically the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado. We find our way to the top of a 14,000-foot peak, drop a line into an alpine lake, throw a few summer snowballs and fill our digital camera with wildflower images. My sons have been bitten by the fourteener bug and every summer we find a new summit to climb. Colorado has fifty-four peaks over 14,000 feet tall and bagging one can be as easy as a four-mile walk with a 2,400-foot elevation gain, or as difficult as a belayed 5.8-mile route to a summit. Either gives us a feeling of accomplishment and a wonderful view of the Rockies.
